Our Mission

The South African Benchrest Shooting Federation (SABSF) is dedicated to the promotion, regulation, and development of precision benchrest shooting across South Africa. We focus primarily on the highly technical disciplines of .22LR rimfire and 6mmPPC centerfire shooting.

SASCOC Affiliation

As the officially recognized national body, SABSF works in close partnership with the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC). This affiliation ensures that our athletes have pathways to achieve national colours and compete internationally under the South African flag.

What is Benchrest Shooting?

Benchrest shooting is a sport where extreme accuracy and precision are the ultimate goals. Shooters fire rifles from a heavy table or "bench," resting the front and rear of the rifle on sandbags or mechanical rests. Success requires not only perfectly tuned equipment but also the shooter's ability to read complex wind conditions and environmental factors.
